Drum circles are springing up all over the country as people discover the health and other benefits of hand drumming. People who have never drummed before are amazed at the stress reduction, fellowship and joy they experience while participating in a drum circle.
A drum circle allows for all levels of drum playing experience, from beginner to professional. If you can tap your feet to rhythm you can join in and experience the benefits. We all have our internal rhythms. In a drum circle our personal expressions join together as poly-rhythms to make a form of ‘in the moment’ music that lifts our spirits and unites all the players. It is a collective sound where each person is heard in response to each other. Everybody feels a part of it. The diversity comes together as one voice and fills the players with joy and a spirit of unity.
If you have never participated in a drum circle before seek one out. It will enrich your life. It is a joyfull experience that will benefit you both physically and spiritually.
The Drum Circle is offered the third Sunday of the month from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. at Highlands Hammock State Park.
Suitable for all age groups, bring a lawnchair or blanket and your favorite instruments. Regular park admission ($4.00 per carload) applies.
The Drum Circle is closed the months of July, August and September of each year.
